Automating the Workflow for the Analysis of Soils by ICP-OES. Less Work, More Flow
The analysis of soils is often a time-consuming analysis. Firstly, there are many ways to test the soil ranging from P availability for plants using Mehlich I or Mehlich 3 extraction fluids to leaching and total dissolved methods under EPA SW 846 method 3050 and 3052.
TCLP analysis can also be done to simulate what the environment will extract from the soils using Acetic Acid and Sodium Hydroxide. The preparation in all these cases is manual and time consuming. However, once a solution is prepared for analysis by ICP-OES much of that operation is still manual, uses a lot of supplies and materials (money) and requires a lot a man hours in labor (cost). This also includes manually making all calibration solutions, and dilutions. And the dilutions are made manually when a solution is too high in concentration. The new Advanced Dilution System (ADS2) will be shown that addresses automating your workflow in the laboratory.
