High-Throughput ICP-OES Analysis of Elements in Brines from Direct Lithium Extraction

Direct Lithium Extraction (DLE) selectively recovers lithium from underground brines, producing high-purity lithium salts for batteries. Accurate analysis of major and trace elements is essential for quality control, but high dissolved solids and wide analyte ranges make lithium brines challenging to analyze. In this seminar, an Agilent 5900 ICP-OES with the Advanced Dilution System 2 (ADS 2) quantified key elements in different brine samples from DLE (raw, tail and lithium concentrate). The method demonstrated excellent matrix tolerance, long-term stability, and reliable elemental profiling, supporting robust quality control throughout the DLE workflow.
